Fast Probate applications for Jersey
If you have applied for a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration in the UK and have obtained the same, these documents are known as Grants of Representations. So if you have either of the Grant of Representations then you’ll qualify for the fast track probate Jersey application. There are certain documents that we require which are detailed below. The fast track probate process is only available where the deceased person was domicile in the UK. This will usually only takes a few weeks. A list of Grants from the following Countries are included within the Fast Track process; England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man and Guernsey
Requirements
As listed above if you have already obtained a UK Grant of Representation then the estate will qualify for the Fast Track Probate Jersey service. We will need the Court sealed Grant or a Court certified copy of the document. As well as an original death certificate and details of the estate in Jersey. We will of course need to comply with Anti Money Laundering procedures which means the Executors will also need to supply copies of their identity. Stamp Duty
The Jersey Probate Registry charge a flat fee of £80 for all applications in addition to actual stamp duty. Any Estate under the value of £10,000 there is no additional Stamp Duty tax to pay. For any estate over £10,000 the Stamp Duty payable is 0.5% of the assets in Jersey. For high net worth estate, although inheritance tax is not payable, there is Stamp Duty. But there is a cap on the Stamp Duty charged of £100,000. We advise getting in contact for further details.
