For nature lovers, Jersey truly is a beautiful, astonishing, and fascinating place to be. There is so much to see, that one visit is often not enough, and many visitors return time and again. Even locals are always going to have the pleasure of experiencing something new. If you’re into nature and want to experience what Jersey has to offer, here are some of the best ways to do so.
Sunsets
The natural world is full of wonders, and being able to watch the dramatic, stunning sunset on Jersey is one of them. The best place to watch is along the west coast of the island; and ideally as close to La Corbiere Lighthouse as you can get. Sporting many beautiful beaches, you’ll surely be able to find a gorgeous spot to relax and take in stunning sunsets.
Jersey Zoo
Jersey Zoo is no ordinary zoo, so for nature lovers there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The zoo (formerly known as Durrell’s Wildlife Park) was opened by the famous Gerald Durrell himself in 1959, and since then it has always been about the conservation of animals. It was the world’s first zoo solely dedicated to conservation projects, and its influence spreads across the world. You can even stay overnight in glamping tents if you really want to make the most of your time there
Jersey Wetland Centre
Birdwatching on Jersey is one of the purest joys there is, and at the Jersey Wetland Centre you can see all kinds of wildlife. There is even a tunnel that takes you to a special viewpoint overlooking St Ouen’s Pond. Where you can get a real close-up look at some of the birds there. As a bonus, entry is free.
Botanic Gardens
Yes, Jersey even has its own botanic gardens. You can find them at Samares Manor, and although they are particularly beautiful during spring and summer, they are still a lovely place to visit during the autumn and even into the winter as well. Gardens consist of sections, where you can find herbs, fruit, and flowers.
Jersey Lavender Farm
Is there anything quite as lovely as the sight of lavender fields in full bloom? That vibrant purple blanket can be seen on Jersey, at St Brelade. Of course, the flowers bloom in May to July, so this is certainly a seasonal attraction, but even when the lavender isn’t out, you can still enjoy walking around the farm, learning how to make essential oils, and even visiting the onsite distillery.
